3D MODELLING

In 2018, I modelled, printed, painted and photographed 7 mythical horses while documenting the entire process, as an experimental final major project.

Despite the facilities having existed for a long time, I was the first illustration student to tackle a 3D printing project in the course's history.

Since it was an experimental project, I printed the process of the modelling in its three stages - from start to finish.

Evolution of the Bubble Horse

Every model was created from a basic template using Meshmixer and they were printed in paper using the equipment at Middlesex University.

Following the printing and separation, they were painted using acrylic with a varnish to top it off. Afterwards, the horses were photographed to ensure an illustration element and to showcase them in a physical, undisturbed space.

Process Video

This project was a journey of discovering different artistic mediums, it was the first time I explored 3D modelling and printing, photography, stop motion and video editing. Because of it, I have become unafraid of trying new technical challenges.
